SILENT PURPOSE Premiered! Silent Purpose - clarinet concerto and film Silent Purpose i one of the most expensive commissions for ages in Sweden and an attempt to develope the classical concert form by having the concerto accompanied by a film. The soloist Fröst is performing both on and off screen. Silent Purpose was commissioned by Trondheim Solistene and was first performed on the 26:th of sep. in Trondheim, Norway. SIlent Purpose was well recieved. No less that 10 in and outs for Fröst and a standing ovation. The press said: "Högbergs "Silent Purpose" is simply ingeniousl." "A massive premiere that got music and pictures and bodies and chairs to rock..." "...this is how paradoxical it should be , 'cause then it becomes great art. Succé för iOPERA in Concert i Norrköping! En svit ur operan Kains Kvinna framfördes konsertant i DeGeer hallen i Norrköping på lördagen den 27/9 med solisterna Anna Hanning och Mikael Rönnberg. Den nära 90-hövdade Norrköpings Symfoniorkester dirigerades av Fredrik Högberg som ju också komponerat musiken. Texten är skriven av Tove Alsterdal. Två konserter gavs och belönades med stående ovationer. Under konserterna var det också premiär på de två första reklamfilmerna för iOPERA Manager. Konserterna, som föregicks av ett stort mediauppbåd, räknas som en "kick-off" till det omfattande iOPERA-projektet och internetoperan Kains Kvinna som ska ha premiär 2010. Tidningarna skrev: "Kulturnattens uruppförande av delar ur Högbergs iOpera Kains kvinna var ett guldkorn i programmet. Högberg har blivit en mycket skicklig kompositör som låter musiken växa till en innehållsrik och sömlös gobeläng. Både varm, intuitiv och lättillgänglig kommer den nära publiken..." Later this spring a fully developed site will be released, introducing and presenting the first iOPERA projects. Apr. 23:rd -08 Brassbones re-released! Brassbones has a central spot on the Christian Lindberg 50:th Anniversary DVD "The Total Musician". The 3 hour and 40 minute long DVD that Lindberg has just released on the BIS label – their first ever DVD – has become an instant sales success and has also received brilliant reviews. The Magazine OPUS writes: iOPERA AB is a fact! Courthouse Music major project iOPERA is now a company of its own. Recently Nils Sundström was engaged as head of IT. A dedicated website and more announcements on future products and projects will soon come up on www.iopera.com. (Nothing there right now though...). Oct. 1:st -07 Martin Möller new force in the Courthouse. We have expanded our potential by employing Martin. Martin has studied composition with prof. Jan Sandström and originates from Uppsala, north of Stockholm. Martin will work as producer and developer in the upcoming, major project, iOPERA. We welcome Martin (back) to the Courthouse! (Seven years ago Martin was the first student in our production/composition program). Sept, 1:st -07 Annika Högberg head of dance in Mid-Sweden Co-founder of Courthouse Music Annika Högberg has accepted the position as Regional Dance Consultant, Mid Sweden. Annika has a history as a professional dancer, choreographer, teacher, producer and more and is the force that the dance scene in the area have been waiting for.
– I'm happy she took this job, says composer Fredrik Högberg, associate and husband to Annika. – Every important cultural instance need a person like her, she's incredible, he goes on. –1:st of september just happens to be Annikas birthday, any special plans? – We won't be at home for the occassion, but I can assure we'll be having a good time, says Fredrik Högberg, and smiles . The succesful couple will spend their weekend in a secret resort, away from all attention. Apr. 27:th -07 New CD from Courthouse Music! Johan Bodin Eriksson gives us Chopin on the marimba. The new CD is called "the Deliberate Marimba" and contains some of Chopins most intimate piano pieces arranged for the marimba by Johan Bodin Eriksson. The result is beautiful!

May. 8:th -07 Midsummers Festival coming up! Due to the construction work on the Courthouse last years festival was cancelled. But we are happy to announce this years festival - 20 - 23 juni 2007. Dancing according to me (CMCD014) is the result of three days of intense recording sessions with two of the worlds finest accordionists, Jörgen Sundeqvist and Øivind Farmen. This unique CD, contains several world premiere recordings and a sublime collection of accordion duos. Even if You are new to the delicate sound that two accordions can produce, or if You are a connoisseur that can tell the difference between a Petosa and Zero Sette and with loads of original Frosini albums in Your collection - this CD will still get Your attention! Dancing According to me is the 14:th release on the exclusive Courthouse Music label. Øivind Farmen will appear at the Midsummers Festival later this year. Apr. 10:th -07 New associates in the Courthouse! Courthouse Music is now strengthened by new employee Lena M Olofsson. Lena M works as a producer in the iOPERA project and she also runs the Midsummer Festival. Oskar Sjöberg, who been hanging in the Courthouse since he was a kid, is now in charge of maintenance in the house. We welcome them both to the Courthouse Music Team! Jan. 24:th -07 Courthouse Music presents iOPERA! Composer Fredrik Högberg recieved a stipend worth of 2.000.000 Skr. (220.000 €), the biggest stipend ever to a Swedish composer. More soon... Jan. 14:nd -07 New chairman of the board! The society of friends of Courthouse Music have elected a new chairman - Helen Lundquist-Dahlen. We welcome the new chairman and say thank You to the former chairman Eva-Lisa Sjöberg. Eva Lisa will remain in the board. Nov. 2:nd -06 Tuba Concerto an instant success! Øystein Baadsvik's excellent first performance of Högbergs tuba concerto "Rocky Island Boat Bay" rendered in a never ending applaus in Västerås. Conductor Mats Rondin and the Symphony Orchestra of Norrköping (SON) did a fantastic job also in Norrköping and the crowd in the De Geer hall showed their enthusiasm for the piece, that was recorded on label BIS immediately the following week. Oct. 20:th -06 Dancing according to me... Øivind Farmen and Jörgen Sundeqvist premiered "Dancing according to me" by Högberg at the opening concert of the 59:th Coupe Mondiale in Asker, Norway. The duo made it straight in to the heart of the accordeon world and all of the copies of the score was sold out within hours... Oct. 15th -06 First pictures of the renovated Courthouse! It's red and it's so white... We love the new look of the Courthouse... more soon.
Oct. 6th -06 Courthouse Music's Johan Ramström prized! Composer, film maker and Courthouse Music associate Johan Ramström's new shortfilm "Tack" (Thanks) has been awarded with BEST EXPERIMENT at the Umeå Film Festival. "Tack" is produced in close collaboration with Swedish poet Peo Rask. Watch a sample here (under news). Oct. 4th -06 Brassbones DVDs stopped by censorship! The brass-western BRASSBONES, recently released on DVD has been stopped by the authorities in Singapore. Courthouse Music exclusive distributor Lester Lim sais in a mail to Courthouse Music that he can no longer sell Brassbones openly. The authorities in Singapore are very strict when it comes to strong language, and it appears to be the word XXXXXX that became to much for them. It seems like Kit Bones and the other characters in Brassbones have become peaceful warriors in the struggle for freedom of speach. There are no guns present in Brassbones, just trumpets and trombones... read more By the way, this is not the first time Kit Bones and Fredrik Högberg have been stopped from performing. The last time they appeared in Newcastle, England, the bishop him self banned Högberg and his music from the church and called it "sacrelege"... Aug. 28th -06 New trainee in the Courthouse. Truls Nilsson from Sjöbo (south of Sweden) are looking forward to a year in the Courthouse as a trainee. Truls is a trombonist and has interests in composing, arranging and producing. Truls is most welcome and we wish him a rich year with us in the Courthouse! Aug. 16th -06 The Courthouse renovation coming to an end. The exterieur of the magnificient Courthouse in Nyland has been under reconstruction for almost two years. In the end of august is the deadline for Jämtfasad, who is in charge of the project. The result is to be outstanding! This week the tower gets heavy attention...

Midsummer in Nyland Due to the renovation of the Courthouse there will be no Midsummer Festival this year. We will however still organize the traditional Midsummer celebration in the park below the Courthouse. It all starts at 16.00. Musicians and dancers and of course the pole will be there. Most welcome (Free of charge). Later that evening there will be a club night for the members of our society!
